"It's possible you can get cured, it can take a long time. But trauma is one of those things that has to be addressed as well. Trauma is some one of those things that you have to be willing to kind of pull the layers back and go, okay, where did this really start? And why do I get because something that happens in trauma, and you're probably aware of this too, is you end up in this cycle, kind of like this merricko route

Lizzie Ens is a board certified functional nutrition practitioner living in Arizona. She specializes in women's hormones, helping her clients get more energy, better sleep, and better overall body function.

Lizzie Ens grew up in an oppressive Amish community, where she experienced trauma and suppression. At 17, she and her twin ran away for two days, but ultimately returned. A year later, her boyfriend from New York sent a letter offering a way out. With only $20 in her pocket, she left with him. Through hard work and discipline, Lizzie was able to find a job and get her driver's license, Social Security number, and a car. She then moved out to learn about life outside of the oppressive community.

In this episode, you will learn the following:
1. Trauma as the Root Cause of Autoimmune Disease: How can healing from trauma help people recover from autoimmune diseases?
2. Transitioning from the Amish Community: How can someone go from being completely sheltered to thriving in the modern world?
3. Overcoming Naivety and Fear: How can someone overcome naivety and fear to find success and independence?
